She also studied Kathak, a classical dance style, but had to give it up because of her father’s transferable job. While recording a song one day, she was seen by acclaimed director G. V. Iyer who brought her on for the Hindi television drama Kadambari.

Nyra Banerji confirmed her break up with her boyfriend Nishant Malkhani back in 2024 and is currently single and unmarried.

V. Iyer had planned to film a Ramayana film in which she was to play Sita, but the project never got off the ground after the director passed away. Banerjee had to decline a few large offers, though, because of her studies, until Priyadarshan persuaded her to take the lead in his film.
