Yorkshire leg spinner Jafer Chohan has been called up for the first time by England for the men’s limited-overs tour of the West Indies, which starts at the end of October.

Jafer Chohan career
Jafer Chohan has had an incredible cricket journey. After spending time in their academy, he earned his first professional contract with Yorkshire in 2023. He attended the Middlesex Academy as a teenager before joining Yorkshire, although he never made it to the senior team.
Chohan participated in the National Counties league in 2022 for Berkshire, and he contributed to the team’s victory in the 50-over division. At this period, he was suggested to the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA), an initiative aimed at addressing the underrepresentation of South Asians in Britain’s professional cricket league. Chohan bowled against County second XIs and England’s national team after his triumph in SACA.
He played with elite cricketers including Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, and Shan Masood for his 2023 T20 Blast debut against Warwickshire. Despite failing to claim a wicket in his debut, he showed promise at the plate by hitting 37 off 20 balls at number ten for the Southern Braven.
He finished the competition with 17 wickets, although his best performance came in the 2024 Blast against Durham, where he got 5-14, including three wickets in four deliveries. But this season, injuries kept him from making his first-class or List A debut.
