Indian chess player Abhijit Kunte who was born in Pune holds the FIDE Grandmaster title has now become a well-known coach as per his biography
The Indian team, led by coach Abhijit Kunte and consisting of Sachdev, Harika Dronavalli, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Divya Deshmukh, and Vantika Agrawal, defeated Azerbaijan 3.5-0.5 in the championship match.
Following their first-ever gold medal victory in the 45th Chess Olympiad in this location, veteran Indian women’s team member Tania Sachdev declared on Sunday that they were destined for the top spot. The Indian squad included Divya D, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Harika Dronavalli, Sachdev, and Harika D.

FIDE International Master and GM Sachdev said, “I think last time it didn’t happen like Vaishali said it was a very, very difficult. It was hard to celebrate the bronze last time and I’m just so happy right now.”
47-year-old Abhijit Kunte was born on March 3, 1977. Prakash and Meena Kunte are his parents. Abhijit is married to wife Meghana with whom he has two kids Maithili and Arnav.

Abhijit and his sister Mrunalini Kunte together founded the Kunte’s Chess Academy (KCA) and over the period of ten years KCA has created numerous champions and contributed to the growth of Indian chess.
Abhijit went on to become the fourth grandmaster of India, two time national champion (1997 and 2000) and the British Champion. WIM Mrunalini was one of the best female players of the country and won the national championship in 1996.

Abhijit Kunte career
Abhijit Kunte has competed in the Indian Chess Championship on numerous occasions, taking home two gold (1997, 2000) and four bronze (1999, 2001, 2003, 2005). In addition to winning the British Chess Championship in Edinburgh in 2003, he also won two medals in the Commonwealth Chess Championship (finishing third in Mumbai in 2003, with Nguyen Anh Dung winning the off-contest, and second in Sangli 2000, behind Krishnan Sasikiran).
In the Asian Team Chess Championship, Kunte won seven medals (team bronze in 1999, two team and individual silver medals in 2003, team gold and bronze individual medals in 2005, team silver and individual bronze medals in 2008). Kunte has represented India four times at the Chess Olympiads (1998โ2004).
Abhijit Kunteย participated in the World Chess Championship’s single-elimination event in 2000 (New Delhi/Tehran), losing to Gilberto Milos in the elimination round. In the Asian Chess Championship held in Cebu City in 2007, he finished in third place behind Zhang Pengxiang. He also participated in the Chess World Cup 2007 in Khanty-Mansiysk, where he was eliminated in the first round by Vadim Zviagintsev. In 2000, he was granted the rank of Grandmaster.
