Kapil Parmar bio

Kapil Parmar is an Indian para-judo player who was born on June 23, 2000, in Shivor, a small village in Madhya Pradesh and is the world number 1 ranked. He is currently 24 years old, and the youngest of four brothers and a sister, and his father works as a taxi driver while his sister runs a primary school. Kapil has a middle brother who also plays judo, and the pair often practice with each other as training partners.

When Kapil was just a child, he suffered a terrible accident while out playing in the fields of his village. He accidentally touched a water pump, and received a severe electric shock, which left him in coma for six months. Despite this setback, he is now a proud winner of the bronze medal at the ongoing 2024 Paralympics. He also made history following the win after becoming India’s first Paralympic medallist in judo.

Kapil wins bronze at Paris 2024 Paralympics

India’s Kapil Parmar secured a historic bronze medal win in the men’s 60kg J1 judo event at the 2024 Paralympics. In doing so, Kapil became the first first-ever Indian para judo medallist. Kapil achieved the feat after beating his opponent with a dominating score of 10-0 against Brazil’s Elielton de Oliveira.

Career and achievements

After undergoing a comma, doctors advised Kapil Parmar to gain weight during his recovery. During this time, he discovered blind judo and trained under through his mentor and coaches, Bhagwan Das and Manoj Sir. The pair eventually motivated him to pursue the sport at the competitive level. Kapil has since gone on to win several medals at different levels of the sport.

During the 2019 Commonwealth Championships, Kapil won a gold, followed by a silver medal in the Asian Para Games 2022. He then won another gold during the IBSA Judo Grand Prix Alexandria in 2023, followed by a bronze in the IBSA World Games that same year. Esrlier this year, Kapil won a gold during the IBSA Judo Grand Prix Antalya and a gold in IBSA Judo Grand Prix Tbilisi.
