The Paralympic Games 2024 will take place in Paris starting today, Wednesday, August 28, featuring thousands of athletes from over 150 countries.

The Paralympics will start of today, Wednesday, August 28 up until Sunday, September 8.
Paralympics 2024 opening ceremony
The upcoming event will start off with an exciting opening ceremony, which starts at 8pm local time (18:00 GMT/11:30 pm IST), Wednesday, 28 August 2024. This year’s event will be the first ever Paralympic opening ceremony that takes place outside a stadium. The opening ceremony will feature athletes parading through the iconic Avenue des Champs-Elysees to the Place de la Concorde public square. The organizers are expecting over 65,000 people to attende the parade.

According to the International Paralympic Committee, athletes competing at the Paralympics must have:
an underlying health condition that leads to a permanent eligible impairment.”
Impairments can include problems like amputations, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, physical injuries or intellectual impairment, traumatic brain injury, and blindness or reduced sight. Moreover, the organizers classify the Paralympians based how much their impairments limit them or affect their ability to compete, in order to ensure fair competition.
