22-year-old Rakshitha Raju was born in 2002. She lost her father when she was ten and her mother when she was just two. Rakshitha was raised by her grandmother, an elderly deaf woman who ensured Rakshitha received all the attention she was due. The athlete solidified her status as one of the greatest in the nation by using her talent to win people over.
Born with a complete visual impairment, Rakshitha has overcome numerous challenges to become one of India’s top para athletes and was brought up by her grandmother, who is affected by a speech and hearing impairment.
Rakshitha finished her schooling at the Ashakirana School for the Blind in the district seat of Chikkamagaluru, where she was greatly influenced by her instructor Cynthia Fess. Rakshitha persevered in her quest for greatness and kept her difficulties to herself in spite of her difficulties.
Rakshitha Raju was just a young girl when she lost both her parents. She was raised by her grandmother, who is both hearing-impaired and visually-impaired. Under her coach Rahul’s guidance, she developed into a multi-national talent. Rakshitha Raju will now compete at the next Paralympic Games in Paris, which are slated to take place from August 28 to September 8, in the 1500-meter middle-distance race.
Rakshitha Raju career
Rakshitha Raju competed in the National Sports Tournament for the Visually Handicapped in Delhi in 2016 and won the 400-meter competition.
Rakshitha has won multiple national and international championships during her outstanding athletic career. Her gold medal in the Women’s 1500m-T11 event at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Para Games was one of her most noteworthy accomplishments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi noticed her exceptional work and gave her a commendation for her achievements.
