The tragic Kolkata doctor r*pe and murder case has sent shockwaves to the entire nation. Following a widespread public outcry, the authorities have finally apprehended a suspect in the case.
Meanwhile, in response to the r*pe and murder case, the junior doctors and the nursing staff at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has initiated a “cease-work,” protest and stages a demonstration on the premises of the hospital on Saturday.

For the context, a junior doctor, who was on duty Thursday night was found dead early Friday morning at the emergency building.
Reportedly, after completing her shift at around 2 a.m., she had her dinner with fellow junior doctors and then she went to the seminar hall in the “Chest Department,” on the fourth floor of the emergency department to rest.
However, tragically, her body was discovered in the same seminar hall on Friday morning. The preliminary autopsy report indicates that she had been s*xually assaulted.

What Did the Report Reveal?
As per reports, her body was found on a blood-stained matters, with the post-mortem examination revealing injuries including bleeding from her eyes and mouth and blood-stains in her private parts.
In addition, reports suggest that nail marks were visible on her face and injuries were found on her neck, abdomen, lips, left ankle and the ring finger of her right hand.
Later, a case of r*pe and murder was filed at the Tala Police Station after the complaint by victim’s father. Reportedly, a special investigation team has been formed by Lalbazar to probe the incident.
The victim, has been identified as a second-year 31 year old postgraduate student of RG Kar Medical College, was found dead inside the Seminar Hall 3.
Identity of the Suspect
A suspect arrested in the case is identified as Sanjay Roy. As per police sources, Roy isn’t affiliated with the hospital but had gained access to the facility.
According to media reports, a crucial piece of evidence that led to Sanjay’s arrest was a broken earphone wire, which was found near the victim’s body.
Reportedly, that broken earphone wire belongs to Roy. However, sources reveals that, Roy might not have acted alone in the r*pe and murder case.

What Did Police Say?
As per authorities, Roy was initially detained based on the interrogations, however, on Saturday morning, police arrested him due to inconsistencies in his statement and after the discovery of the earphone wire.
Reportedly senior officers from Lalbazar, have visited RG Kar Medical College and Hospital as the investigation in the case is still ongoing.
The absence of the CCTV footage from the seminar hall as reportedly complicate the investigation. However, the Kolkata Police are still gathering information from nearby areas and interrogating multiple individuals.
