Bruna Costa Alexandre is a Brazilian para table tennis player who was born on March 29, 1995 in Criciúma, State of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Alexandre had her right arm amputated at three months old due to thrombosis from a poorly applied vaccine injection. She is currently 29 years old and has a disability class of C10. Bruna, nicknamed as Bruninha is a two-time World bronze medalist and Paralympic bronze medalist. She won the medals in both the singles and team events alongside her partner Danielle Rauen.

Career and achievements

Bruna Alexandre started out playing table tennis at the young age of seven and has since won several championships. She notably won a bronze medal at the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016 and another silver at Tokyo in 2021. Ahead of the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics, Alexandre shared how she is looking to win a gold in the Paralympics and make a return in Los Angeles in 2028.

Back on Monday, Bruna Alexandre made history by becoming the first Brazilian to compete at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Alexandre and her teammates had their first Olympic journey cut short after facing the world’s top South Korean team in the first round. Despite managing to put up two good performances, they eventually lost and dropped out of the event. The Paralympics are set to begin later this month from August 28 to September 8.
