23-year-old Jordan Chiles was born inย  Oregon on April 15, 2001. She is 4ft 11in tall. Jordan was born to Timothy and Gina Chiles. Her father is Black while her mother is Latina. Chiles’ parents named her after American basketball player Michael Jordan. Her siblings are Jazmin, Tajmen, Jade, and Tyrus.

Timothy and Gina are senior pastors at the Houston campus of According to His Word Worship Center and Timothy grew up ministering alongside his father before becoming a music minister and eventually getting licensed.

Gina married Timothy in 1994 and later joined him in the ministry, becoming a pastor herself.

Following the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Chiles started her collegiate gymnastics career at the University of California, Los Angeles. Jordan put her studies on hold after the 2023 NCAA season to focus on the 2024 Paris Olympics.

After a competitive season, Jordan Chiles placed eighth in the all-around at the 2015 U.S. Classic. At the 2015 U.S., Chiles made her elite debut at the American Classic, where she won the silver medal on the vault behind Felicia Hano and the bronze medal in the all-around behind Ariana Agrapides and Laurie Hernandez. At the U.S. Classic, Chiles finished fifth in the all-around.

It was revealed in June that Chiles had changed gyms, moving from her hometown of Vancouver, Washington’s Naydenov Gymnastics to Spring, Texas, where she trains at the same facility as Simone Biles.

In February, Chiles became the first woman to win the Winter Cup in the all-around category, as well as place first on the vault and floor exercise, second on the balance beam, and fourth on the uneven bars. In August, Chiles participated in the National Championships, placing third in the all-around behind Konnor McClain and Shilese Jones.

In September, Chiles was announced as part of the team that will compete at the 2023 Pan American Games, along with Kayla DiCello, Kaliya Lincoln, Zoe Miller, and Tiana Sumanasekera.
