20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks was the gunman who carried out the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, according to the FBI.
In a statement, the US Secret Service revealed that the gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks “fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside the rally” before one of their agents “neutralized” him.

Following the shooting in Butler, Donald Trump was hustled off stage with blood splattered all over his face.
The former president suddenly grasped his ears during his speech at the ceremony and discovered he had been shot close to his ear and was bleeding. They hurried him to the hospital. Following the incident, a White House official said that Joe Biden had spoken with Donald Trump.
The President also gave speeches to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Butler Mayor Bob Dandoy. The protest is being held in Butler, which is about an hour’s drive north of Pittsburgh.
20 year old Thomas Matthew Crooks lived in Bethel Park. Situated in the southern region of Pittsburgh, Bethel Park is a comparatively well-off city with a largely white population.

In 2022, Crooks completed his education at Bethel Park High School. In fact, the National Math and Science Initiative gave him a $500 “star award” that year, according to The Tribune-Review in western Pennsylvania.
Crooks’ father, Matthew Crooks, 53 said that he was trying to figure out what happened and would wait until he spoke to law enforcement before speaking about his son.
Records show Crooks, was registered as a Republican voter in Pennsylvania, but federal campaign finance reports also show he gave $15 to a progressive political action committee on January 20, 2021. The FBI said it was working to determine a motive for the attack, in which one rally attendee died and two other spectators were critically injured as Trump was shot at.

Thomas Matthew Crooks carried a semiautomatic AR-15 weapon with him during the shooting incident that involved Trump. Several witnesses claimed to have seen him before the shooting and to have informed the police.
Positioned on a building’s roof, Crooks was roughly 130 yards from the platform where Donald Trump was giving his speech during the rally.
Following the attack on the 78-year-old former US President, he was shot and killed by Secret Service agents. According to police, it’s unknown why Crooks fired on the presumed Republican presidential nominee.
As per Lt. Col. George Bevins of the Pennsylvania State Police via NBC, “It’s too soon to determine that. We have provisionally identified one shooter, but our investigation is ongoing. We are following multiple leads, and it will be some time before we can definitively state if it was the act of a single gunman.”
