List Of Players Testing Positive For COVID From Team India At The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2022
Reports came just before the game against Ireland. But as ICC has allowed the squad of 17 for this World Cup, the Indians not only managed to put eleven players on the field but also won the game convincingly against the Irish side. The Indians were led by 17 years old Nishant Sindhu.
Other than captain Dhull and vice-captain Rashid, Manav Parakh, Siddarth Yadav, Aaradhya Yadav, and Vasu Vats are in isolation.
ICC has been pragmatic and has decided to be more flexible by avoiding strict bio-bubble environments. ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice has spoken out to the media about their approach by saying, “We have to be flexible and nimble with the schedule. Our focus has been to make this event happen. You will probably get positive tests at some stage. We will be flexible. It is not going to be that one positive case and stop them (the tournament).”
New Zealand Team Not Participating Owing To COVID Quarantine Rules
The world has witnessed that the strict lockdowns or canceling the event has always been futile. This only makes the condition worse. This sensible move by ICC is quite admirable. The New Zealand U-19 squad decided to not take part in this World Cup due to quarantine restrictions. They took this decision way back in mid-December 2021.
