F2 2022 Format
The tournament is a spec series where all teams and drivers compete against each other using the same car, the Dallara F2 2018. In this spec championship, each contender will use the same type of chassis, tires, and fuel, leaving the race outcome completely up to the driver’s skills.

In the 2022 F2 season, 17 out of 22 drivers have been registered, while five teams are still seeking a driver who will represent them in the series.

Team Changes:
HWA Racelab decided to cease Formula 2 operations after the 2021 season, which ended their FIA Formula 3 operations earlier. Van Amserfoort Racing will replace Racelab to complete the list in 2022 Formula 2 season.
Driver Changes:
Reigning Formula 2 champion Oscar Piastri signed a contract with Alpine F1 Team as a reserve driver. As a result, Prema Racing will begin their season with a new lineup, including reigning FIA Formula 3 champion Dennis Hauger and Red Bull Junior Team member Jehan Daruvala, who left Carlin.
The new team, Amersfoort Racing, announced Jake Hughes as their new driver. He was a former temporary member of HWA Racelab.
Formula 2 2022 Driver Earnings, Salaries F2 Championship
F2 is a racing series whose objective is to identify young talents and give proper training to achieve their potential and become future drivers in the top-tier competition F1. Hence, the significant difference between F1 and F2 is the experience and earnings of drivers. Usually, drivers are required to pay teams to race in F2 and F3.
According to Mercedes F1 boss, a driver usually pays 0.75 million dollars to race in F3. In comparison, the driver can produce up to 1.5 million dollars to race in F2. This heavy expenditure and low race winnings are often the reason for a low number of participants in F2.
