The news about the scam first gained prominence after CBC News reporters Erica Johnson and Kimberly Ivany reported about a journalist who got lured on Instagram by a man claiming to be a wealthy oil rig engineer from California. After viewers saw the repots, several viewers reached out to the media outlet, claiming similar experiences. Soon, everyone pieced together how the profiles and names kept changing, but Sigi Fink’s photos remained constant.
The report stated how a man named Bobby Brown, on Instagram, would reach out to young women, saying he was the divorced father of a nine-year-old. The profile showed him ‘hiking mountains, standing by a river, and posing in front of sunlit vineyard.’ The report further added how ‘Bobby’ would drop messages daily and propose within weeks.
Journalist uncovers the man behind the scam accounts
Following all the events, the journalist eventually managed to find out what was going on after she revealed that she was a journalist. The journalist told the scammer how he never believed in his tricks and asked for an interview with him. The scammer, as a result, finally admitted that he was actually a 26-year-old Nigerian and claimed that he lives in poverty. He further confessed to preying on women using photos stolen from an “attractive man’s Facebook page.”

Sigi Fink is a meteorologist and weatherman for Austria’s public broadcaster who was born on May 5, 1984, in Bolzano, Italy. He is currently 39-years-old and has Austrian nationality, although he was born in Italy. According to sources, he obtained his education from the University of Innsbruck, graduating in 2009. Fink is quite active on social media and often posts pictures of him doing gym workouts. Interestingly, he was voted as the sexiest man in Austria just two years ago. After finding out about the scam reports, he shared:
