Know the reason behind Ryan Burge’s decision to mock his former club Port Vale’s relegation by flying a plane over their home stadium

Ryan Burge appears to have elevated his hatred of Port Vale by claiming that he flew a plane over Vale Park on Saturday, mocking their relegation to League Two. After this incident, the 35-year-old conveyed his excitement about the whole situation. This indicates that Burge’s animosity toward Port Vale is so intense that he took the step of obtaining a pilot’s license and flying a plane over Vale Park to mark the club’s relegation.

Who is Ryan Burge?

Burge’s animosity towards Port Vale began when the club suspended him for two weeks after an incident just before a 2-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers on March 12, 2013. He subsequently departed from the club by mutual agreement after opting to terminate his contract, which was due to expire that summer. Despite leaving prematurely, users of a club fan site voted Burge as one of their three Players of the Season after Port Vale secured promotion in 2012/13.

Vale suspended Burge after he skipped a pre-match meal and then criticized the club on social media. At that time, manager Micky Adams stated that Ryan failed to attend the pre-match meal. Additionally, Burge posted controversial content on his Twitter feed, prompting the club to take action against him. On Twitter, Burge claimed that he should have been picked up at a service station instead of arranging his own transportation.

Why Ryan decided to fly a plane over Vale Park?

During an interview, Ryan revealed that he had declined to play for the club again. He accused Port Vale of breaching their own non-disclosure clause by providing negative character references to other clubs in an attempt to dissuade them from signing him. He argues that Vale’s actions stemmed from bitterness after he rejected a two-year contract extension.

Following Port Vale’s relegation to League Two, Ryan Burge stated that he operated a plane over Vale Park carrying a banner referencing Stoke City’s anthem and lyrics from the Tom Jones song ‘Delilah’, along with the name of a Potters hooligan firm.
