Zafar Agha was born in 1954 in Allahabad. He is survived by his son. National Herald Group Editor in Chief Zafar Agha’s wife Sameena Rizvi passed away on May 25, 2021 while undergoing treatment for COVID.

Zafar Agha’s illustrious career in journalism began in 1979 when he joined The Link Magazine and amassed a wealth of experience over the next 45 years.

Over the span of four and a half decades, he made significant contributions to several prominent publications, including The Patriot, Business and Political Observer, India Today, and ETV.

His role as the Political Editor at India Today was particularly noteworthy for his keen observations and incisive commentary on political affairs.

Zafar Agha’s tenure with the National Herald group marked the pinnacle of his career. Initially serving as the editor of the Urdu daily Qaumi Awaz, Agha later assumed the role of editor-in-chief of the National Herald. He pursued his education at Allahabad Yadgar Hussaini Inter-College and furthered his studies with a master’s degree in English from Allahabad University.

The Namaz-e-Janaza for Zafar Agha will be held at Dargah Shah-e-Mardan in B.K. Dutt Colony, Jor Bagh, at around 1:30 PM, and interment in the Hauz Rani cemetery next to Press Enclave, Saket, New Delhi, around 4:00 PM.
