Athletic community is mourning on passing of the athlete who was born in the city of Natal in the northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte, and the President of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee, Mizael Conrado, paid tribute to him by saying:
We are devastated at the departure of Joana Neves, our Joaninha.
Further was said:
So much charisma out of the pool, so much determination when she entered the water to represent our country, Rio Grande do Norte, her friends and her family.”
President also said that a lot of people were pleased with Joaninha’s accomplishments and the joys she brought to evryone and how she excelled at sports.

Joana Maria Jaciara da Silva Neves Euzebio was a Brazilian swimmer who was born on February 14, 1987 in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
Joana, sometimes called Joaninha or Peixinha, is a loving term for Little Fish in English.

Joana Neves began swimming at the age of ten on the recommendation of a doctor, and three years later, she began competing in the global paralympic swimming championships, winning a total of fifteen medals over her illustrious career.
She participated in three Paralympic games and came away with two silver and three bronze in London (2012), Rio (2016), and Tokyo 2020. She won the 50 m freestyle gold medal in 2015, making history as the first Brazilian woman to do so. it at the IPC World Championships.

She was born with Achondroplasia, a bone growth disease caused by a genetic mutation in the arms and legs that causes dwarfism.
Her club Sadef RN who confirmed her death saying:
Parathlete swimmer Joana Neves died this morning in Sao Paulo.
She was in the city undergoing tests to seek a diagnosis of seizures she had recently suffered.”
