Benjamin Mendy finally managed to leave the Strangeways prison after he was granted bail in his ongoing rape case
In jail since a raft of months after having seven counts of rape and one of assault placed against him, Benjamin Mendy has finally managed to make his way back home.
Although he’s far from a free man with a staggering amount of evidence against him in his heinous crimes, the Manchester City footballer is out of bars for the first time since August 2021. Mendy who was shifted to the Strangeways high security prison from the Category B HMP Altcourse was granted bail at the Chester Crown Court.

However, the bail has come in lieu of stringent norms with Mendy directed not to leave his house by the judge as he appeared at his hearing wearing handcuffs and in a yellow and green prison jumpsuit.
He has also been ordered to surrender his passport and not make any contact with the victims. Mendy was seen pulling up at his £4.8million mansion in a black Mercedes, a six bedroom home in Prestbury, Cheshire which he had bought from Andrew Flintoff in 2018. This was Mendy’s fourth bail application after his last one was quashed back in October during a 50 minute hearing. The French leftback will now be back in court on January 24 ahead of a provisional trial date of June 27.
City had previously suspended the player after playing him on despite being aware of the rape charges.
“Manchester City can confirm that following his being charged by police today, Benjamin Mendy has been suspended pending an investigation.
“The matter is subject to a legal process and the club is therefore unable to make further comment until that process is complete,” the club said in a statement.
