A political controversy has erupted following the arrest of local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sabyasachi Ghosh on allegations that he ran a prostitution ring involving minors out of his hotel in the Howrah district of Bengal.

The Trinamool Congress, which is in power, has directed its criticism towards the BJP. Ghosh, holding the position of BJP Kisan Morcha (farmers’ front) secretary in Howrah, was taken into custody on Wednesday night in the Sankrail area, where his implicated hotel is situated.
The arrest transpired after ten people—four adult women and two minors—were taken into custody from Ghosh’s hotel room. According to a district police official, the accusations brought against him cover a number of provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Protection of Children from S*xual Offenses (POCSO) Act, and the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act.
The event happened in the midst of allegations of s*xual assault made by local women in Sandeshkhali, in Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, against certain Trinamool Congress politicians.
The Trinamool Congress has now responded retaliatorily to Ghosh’s arrest, undermining the BJP’s plan to use the Sandeshkhali issue to its advantage in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Who is Sabyasachi Ghosh?
Sabyasachi Ghosh is a former leader of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). He has been in the news because he was arrested on allegations of running a prostitution racket in his hotel.
