Dani Alves verdict details and sentencing
A Spanish court on Thursday, February 22, 2024, convicted Dani Alves as guilty of rape. According to official reports, the court also imposed additional penalties aside from charging Alves as guilty of rape. Beside serving his 4-and-a-half-year prison sentence, Alves will also have to compensate the victim with a massive payment of $163,000 (€150,000). Moreover, the court also issued a nine and a half year restraining order upon Alves and prohibited him from making any contact with the victim even upon his release. In addition, Alves will still have to serve five years’ worth of probation even after completing his prison sentence.
While his current release date from prison isn’t known, he is likely to come out in late 2028 given the 4.5 years sentence.
Dani who is a Christian by religion had a net worth of $60 million in 2023. However, according to his lawyers, the Brazilian’s current bank balance stands at -$21,500 following the start of his legal trouble.
Alves moved to Pumas UNAM in July 2022 from Barcelona, for whom he made 261 league appearances in total, scoring 15 goals and providing 59 assists but is currently not playing anywhere.

According to official reports, the alleged incident took place in the early hours of December 31, 2022, in the VIP section of Barcelona’s Sutton nightclub, where Dani Alves was attending a night party. Despite all the evidence laid against him, the footballer claimed innocence and stated that the victim consented to his actions. However, the court ruled against his favour, and Alves even changed his statement at least four times throughout the case. The court eventually concluded that the victim did not consent to s*xual intercourse, and stuck with the accusations labelled against Alves.
