Unfortunately Sindhutai Sakpal who was regarded as the mother of orphans has passed away at the age of 73 in Maharashtra’s Pune on 4th January in the year 2022. Her social work has been incredibly beneficial for people and she has changed the lives of thousands.

In the year 1948 on 14th November Sindhutai Sakpal was born a cowherds Abhimanyu. Sindhutai was studying in 4th standard when her father because of poverty and the birth of an unwanted child decided to marry her.
For marriage, she had to quit her school and at the tender age of 12, she was flooded with a lot of opportunities. Her husband Shrihari Sakpal was 20 years older than her. Their marriage was not at all successful as after the birth of a girl child Shrihari left Sindhutai to live her life on her own.
Sindhutai Sakpal’s Work And Orphanage
After Sindhutai Sakpal got separated from her husband initially she struggled a lot for living. She lived and begged on railway stations. When she was living on railway stations, she noticed many kids who were homeless and living in the same area. When she encountered so many abandoned children she started begging more to feed each one of them.
She was so unbiased to these children that she donated her biological daughter to a trust so that the equal distribution of food can be carried out to all abandoned kids.
Sindhutai Sakpal Orphanages
Sakpal’s entire life was devoted to orphan kids. Kids were fond of her and called her Mai. More than 1500 kids were nurtured by Sakpal initially and later on she motivated others as well. She had a grand family for which more than 700 awards were presented to her.
Sindhutai Sakpal’s Awards And Cause Of Death And Reason
She has been awarded Padma Shri recently in the year 2021. She passed away on the 4th of January because of a heart attack.
