Sameer Kamath found dead
Originally from Amherst, Massachusetts, Kamath held US citizenship. He started his higher studies at Purdue University in the summer of 2021, pursuing a Masterโs degree in mechanical engineering and prior to his admission at Purdue, Sameer completed his Bachelorโs degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
Graduating with distinction in August 2023, he transitioned into a doctoral program within the Mechanical Engineering Department, with an aspiration to complete his doctorate by 2025. Details about his parents and family aren’t known but he is of Indian descent.
An Indian student named Sameer Kamath, who was studying in the United States, was recently found dead on Monday evening. According to Justin Brummett, who is the Warren County Coroner, Kamath’s body was found around 5 p.m. Monday at Crowโs Grove Nature Preserve. The preserve is located at 3300 North Warren County Road 50 West, in Williamsport.
Upon identification of the dead body, authorities contacted Kamathโs family and notified him of the tragic incident. Sadly, Kamathโs death marks the fifth death of an Indian student in a similar fashion. Just last week, authorities found another Indian student named Neel Acharya dead on campus. Before that, authorities found another Indian student named Shreyas Reddy Benigeri dead in Ohio. Shreyas was a student at the Lindner School of Business in Cincinnati.

Sameer Kamath, a 23-year-old Indian-American student at Purdue University was found dead in a nature preserve in Indiana this week and authorities have ruled his death as suicide, saying that it was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Unsurprisingly, Sameerโs death, along with the other recent deaths, has left Indian students in fear for their lives. Sameerโs death marks the fifth such incident this year and the second incident at Purdue University. As of now, the Warren County Coronerโs Office and the local sheriffโs office are still looking into the circumstances surrounding Kamathโs death and find the cause behind it.

According to reports, Kamath had a US citizenship, and had just recently completed his masterโs degree in mechanical engineering back in August 2023. The deceased student was all set to finish his graduation from his doctoral program in 2025. He was just 23 years old at the time of his death.
