The new, shorter form of hockey, called FIH Hockey5s Women’s World Cup 2024, is a chance for the Indian women’s team to start a new chapter in their history and attract younger players to the game, according to the world organisation.

Along with the United States of America, Poland, and Namibia, the Indian Women’s Hockey5s Team is in Pool C after their convincing 7-2 victory over Thailand in the 2023 Women’s Asian Hockey5s World Cup Qualifier secured their place in the renowned competition.

On January 24, India’s first game is scheduled to begin at 12:50 IST and will be followed by a match against the United States of America at 21:10 IST. They will play Namibia in their last group match on January 25 at 14:30 IST.
In the pool stage of the FIH Hockey5s Women’s World Cup 2024, 16 teams in total will be split into 4 groups of 4 teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the medal rounds, while the remaining teams will play in the classification round.
Veteran goalkeeper Rajni Etimarpu will serve as team captain, while defender Mahima Chaudhary will serve as vice captain for the Indian women’s team. In addition, the team has Jyoti Chhatri and Akshata Abaso Dhekale as defenders and Bansari Solanki as the backup goalkeeper.
Ajmina Kujur, Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, and Deepika Soreng have been picked as forwards to complete the 10-person team that has gone to Oman. Mariana Kujur and Mumtaz Khan are the midfielders.
