According to the Resident Advisor, his management, Triangle Agency, formally acknowledged the news of his demise on January 19. His death’s reason has not been made public yet.

Who was Silent Servant?
Silent Servant was a renowned DJ and techno producer. He has been in the news because he passed away recently under unknown circumstances.
His real name was John Juan Mendez. He was born on 19 January 2024 in Central America. He is of mixed ancestry, as his parents were Cuban and Mexican. But he was raised in Los Angeles, where he was exposed to music from an early age and began DJing at the age of sixteen.
He died on 14 August 1977 at the age of 46. The simultaneous passing of his partner, Simone Ling, and the well-known musician Luis Vasquez, also known as The Soft Moon, marked a tragic time for their family but a cause of death isn’t known yet. He had a net worth of $1-5 million.
His career
Beginning his DJ career as a youth, Silent Servant went on to become a crucial part of the prominent Sandwell District collective between 2002 and 2011. As the collective’s graphic designer, he was instrumental in forming it alongside industry heavyweights including Regis, Function, James Ruskin, and Peter Sutton.
He began his solo career in 2006 and put out albums such as “The Silent Morning 12,” which had songs like “Death to the Traveller,” “Murder Murder,” and “Silence.”
His discography throughout the years included two full-length solo albums, “Negative Fascination” (2012) and “Shadows of Death and Desire” (2018), in addition to several singles, EPs, and collaborative ventures. He put out the “In Memoriam” EP via Tresor Records in November 2023.
Along with Regis and Ruskin, he co-founded the label Jealous God after leaving Sandwell District, presenting artists such as Broken English Club, Varg, Marcel Dettmann, and Terence Fixmer.

Although a reason has not yet been identified, it is thought that he passed away in the same incident as The Soft Moon (Luis Vasquez) and his partner Simone Ling.
