During his recent trip to Mumbai, Rajeev Shukla, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, faced a nightmarish experience after ordering a vegetarian meal from Barbeque Nation
The ordeal unfolded on January 8 when Shukla, a 35-year-old private teacher, discovered a dead mouse in the meal he had consumed from the Worli outlet of the restaurant.

Following the disturbing incident, 35 year old Shukla from Prayagraj fell ill and was admitted to a hospital on January 9. Despite his traumatic experience, an FIR has not been lodged with the Mumbai Police.
Shukla shared details of his ordeal, including medical reports, with the media, recounting how he found a dead mouse in the dal and dead cockroaches in the box of gulab jamuns.

Despite contacting Barbeque Nation’s customer care, Shukla claimed that there was no satisfactory response, and his health deteriorated through the night. The following morning, he informed the hotel staff where he was staying, and they arranged transportation to Nair Hospital.
FIR Hasn’t Been Filed?
After undergoing tests and treatment for food poisoning, Shukla was discharged on January 12. Nair Hospital reportedly informed the Nagpada Police Station, but Shukla stated that no FIR has been filed.
Acting on police advice, Rajeev Shukla also visited the Food & Drugs Administration in Bandra, where authorities acknowledged receiving a complaint but reported no action taken.
Furthermore, Shukla made a visit to Nagpada Police Station on January 15, staying until midnight, but the FIR remained pending.
Taking to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Rajeev Shukla posted images of the contaminated meal, along with the bill and a hospital picture.
To which Barbeque Nation responded, expressing regret for any inconvenience and stating that their regional office was in touch with Shukla to resolve the matter.
However, Rajeev Shukla mentioned that the response to emails was minimal, and a scheduled meeting with a Barbeque Nation representative was later canceled.
Apart from his teaching profession, Rajeev Shukla is also pursuing law and contributes to the education of UPSC aspirants in Prayagraj.
