The team achieved 10 victories last year for the first time since 2014 and only the fourth time in school history. Arizona finished the season with a No. 11 ranking, their highest finish in 25 years, and a seven-game winning streak, the longest since 1998.
This happened after Fisch lost the last 12 games for the Wildcats when he arrived in Tucson. The Florida alum, who finished 5-7 in 2022 after going 1-11 in his first year, was able to turn the fortunes around.
Salary and contract
According to sources, Fisch had an afternoon interview with Washington on Saturday before a deal was sealed on Sunday. According to reports, Fisch will make nearly $50 million throughout the seven-year contract, with a salary of $7.75 million annually. Fisch’s pay may increase in addition to his base pay and other benefits if he does well on the field.
In December 2020, Fisch signed a five-year contract with Arizona, and he later inked an extension that would have kept him in Tucson until 2027. In addition to $15.9 million in pay and bonuses, Fisch also signed a $16.3 million deal in December 2022 that included a $400,000 bonus that would have been activated if he had stayed in Arizona through November. In 2024, Fisch was expected to make $3 million in 2025, $3.2 million, $3.25 million, and $3.6 million at Arizona.
Through the life of his current deal, the total compensation for the Arizona head coach was $16.3 million and on top of his base salary and additional compensation, Fisch’s salary can received a further boost for on-field success.
