What Exactly Happened in Chapter 109
Jaehwan already seen the assassin following closely behind him after witnessing the village burn down with his own eyes. Because he can make out the alliance’s signature emblem, he assumes Stigma is a member. While doing so, he thinks back on the divine punishment that occurred five hundred years ago.
In Jaehwan’s recollection, there was a time when stigmatized communities were wiped out completely, leaving no trace whatsoever. It was a warning, Jaehwan realized, that they would ruin the entire trajectory if anyone dared to meddle with them.
The destruction of his village makes Edan furious. He gets very angry and tells Jaehwan the two facts, which Jaehwan has to hear. A week from now, the alliance will have reached the village and destroyed it. This prompts Jaehwan to remark on his divine nature.
Jaewhan reiterates his earlier statement that they should just confront and vanquish the six metabus gods, while Edan informs us that he is indeed one of them. However, Edan clarified the differences in fighting alongside them; else, he would have allied by now. They should abandon the settlement immediately, Edan says, unless they want to die.
