A look at Shweta Sehrawat’s career

For the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, the 19-year-old served as vice-captain of the Indian women’s national cricket team under-19.

The Delhi women’s under-19 team saw Sehrawat play for the first time in October 2018. March 2021 marked her debut for Delhi women’s cricket team in domestic competitions. She scored 118 against women from Meghalaya on March 17 to earn her first-ever List-A hundred.

She notified VVS Laxman, the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in May 2021 that her 12th board exams would prevent her from attending the camp and her request was approved.

Her performance in the camp’s second match; a century; led to her being called up to the NCA Under-19 zonal team. Throughout the campaign, she scored two hundred in six games. April 2022 marked Sehrawat’s Women’s Twenty20 debut. In October 2022, against Manipur, she made her first Women’s T20 fifty with a 43-ball 60.

She guided the India B squad to victory in the Women’s Under-19 Challenger Trophy in November 2022. In the Women’s Under-19 quadrangular series, which also included India B, Sri Lanka Under-19, and West Indies Under-19, She also led the Indian A team to victory in the same month.

Sehrawat was trained at Delhi’s Karnail Singh Stadium by former Indian women’s cricket player Dipti Dhyani.

Sehrawat’s 242 is now the highest score by an Indian woman in organised cricket. She went past Smriti Mandhana’s 224 not out, for Maharashtra Under-19s against Gujarat Under-19s at Vadodara in 2013/14. In senior cricket, the previous record by an Indian was held by Mithali.
