Conor McGregor surprised everyone by announcing a fight on New Year’s Day, as he had promised.

Chandler has long been pushing for a fight with McGregor; in fact, even before they were scheduled to compete as opposite coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 31, Chandler has been pushing for a fight with McGregor.
After that reality show concluded earlier this year, it was expected that the two would square off. However, McGregor’s competitive standing was damaged by allegations of sexual assault from this past June and his unclear drug test status with the USADA (McGregor was later cleared of criminal charges).
In the UFC’s highly anticipated June 29th International Fight Week pay-per-view in Las Vegas, McGregor confirms he will take on Michael Chandler following months of ambiguity and speculation.
If the bout happens at middleweight, it will be McGregor and Chandler’s first time competing in that weight class. Both of the players are fresh off defeats at the hands of Poirier; Chandler lost via submission at Madison Square Garden in November.
When and where will Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler face each other?
Neither a June 29 event nor an official McGregor vs. Chandler bout has yet been announced by the UFC. On the other hand, McGregor’s alleged homecoming date falls within the window of time that the UFC usually conducts International Fight Week (the most recent edition of the event was held in early July).
“The Notorious” announced on Sunday that he will face Michael Chandler in a UFC event in Las Vegas on June 29. McGregor claims that the fight will be fought at 185 pounds.
While the tickets for the T-Mobile Arena event in Las Vegas aren’t released yet, they can be bought from here once they are out.
Conor uploaded a video on his official social media account to announce it. He said:
Ladies and gentlemen, a Happy New Year to you all.
He further said:
I’d like to announce the return date for myself, the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor, the greatest comeback of all time will take place in Las Vegas for International Fight Week, June 29th… and the opponent, Michael Chandler. And the weight, Mr. Chandler, 185 pounds.”
