Gemma Wiseman, an England Women’s Deaf football player, was discovered dead in a woodland just before Christmas. Condolences are flooding in for her untimely passing.
Sadly, on December 16, a member of the public found the football player’s body in a park in Rackheath, Norfolk. The Norfolk Coroner’s Court has already launched an inquest into her death.

Gemma stated that David Beckham was her football idol in a 2021 interview with Norfolk FA.
A GoFundMe page has raised £7,500 since her passing. According to a statement on the page:
On December 16, 2023, Gemma sadly took her own life. Her family and friends are absolutely devastated.
“Gemma was a kind and caring person with a great sense of humour. Everywhere she went she brought laughter and energy with her and easily made friends with anyone who was lucky enough to meet her.
Gemma leaves behind her devoted wife, Laura, and three-year-old daughter who are at a complete loss without her.
It further said:
We are kindly asking for donations to help pay for Gemma’s funeral and give her the send-off she truly deserves. So, if you are able to donate anything at all this would be hugely appreciated.
Who is Gemma Wiseman?
Gemma Wiseman competed for the United Kingdom in the 2016 World Deaf Football Championships in Italy, where the squad won the bronze medal. She was 33 years old and had been a teaching assistant in Norwich.
Along with England and Team GB, she had won other medals, one of which was a bronze at the Bulgarian Deaflympics in 2013. Playing for local clubs, she supported Norfolk FA’s inaugural inclusive festival for females.

Gemma Wiseman was married to Laura Wiseman and had a three-year-old kid.

On December 28, an inquiry into her death was held at Norfolk Coroner’s Court, located at County Hall.
