The India Open 2022 Super 500 badminton event to be held in January will see Indians Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu make a foray as the top sees
Although he failed to get past Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew in the bygone BWF World Championships 2021, India’s Kidambi Srikanth still managed to bring home a historic silver medal for himself. The world championships silver medalist will now be cantering into the India Open set to be contested in January 2022 as the top seeded player in the men’s singles.

Coming in as the second seed is his counterpart B Sai Praneeth with Lakshya at No. 3 to complete the trivalent of Indian’s as the top seeded players. Loh Kean Yew, the new world champion from Singapore has been seeded firth for the showpiece Super 500 badminton event.

The women’s singles will also see an Indian emerge as the top seeded player with PV Sindhu getting the top ranking. Saina Nehwal has been seeded fourth for the event which will be held in New Delhi starting January 11.
The India Open returns after a hiatus of two years, having previously been cancelled owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. And with the pandemic yet to be wiped off the face of the earth, the 2022 BWF opener will be played behind closed doors without spectators.
HS Prannoy, Kashyap, Sameer Verma are the other Indians in the men’s singles while the men’s doubles will see Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy take part from the country along with Sumeeth Reddy-Manu Attri, MR Arjun-Dhruv Kapila and Vishnuvardhan-Krishna Prasad.
In women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa-N Sikki Reddy are the second seeds and Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly are eighth while Dhruv Kapila and N Sikki Reddy will pair up in the mixed doubles category.
