Taking place from December 13 to 17, 2023, in Hangzhou, China, the competition features a substantial prize pool of $2,500,000. The Chinese Badminton Association, with the BWF’s approval, organizes the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals, marking the sixth edition of the event. The venue for this edition is the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Center in Xiacheng.

2023 BWF World Tour Finals schedule, date, venue, fixtures, qualified shuttlers, & group stage draw
Player or pair qualification for this marquee tournament is determined by the BWF’s selection of the ten best results from their performances. However, none of India’s badminton stars rank within the top half of the BWF Rankings, leading to India’s absence at the BWF World Tour Finals. The last time India was missing from this event was in 2010 during the BWF Super Series.
This year’s event lacks Indian representation despite the participation of notable players like PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and Kidambi Srikanth. PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, experienced a challenging 2023 season, causing her to drop out of the top 10 rankings in April. HS Prannoy, India’s top-ranked men’s shuttler, holds the eighth position in the BWF World Tour rankings and the 12th spot in the overall rankings.
Surprisingly, India’s well-known badminton doubles pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty failed to meet the entry standards for this prestigious tournament. Although Nishimoto Kenta had an opportunity to replace Anders Antonsen in the BWF World Tour Finals, he was defeated by fellow Japanese shuttler Naraoka Kodai in the China Masters final.
