Choosing to field, India’s captain Uday Saharan opted for a three-pronged seam attack led by Arshin Kulkarni (3/29), Raj Limbani (3/46), and left-arm quick Naman Tiwary (2/30), who collectively secured eight wickets, dismissing Afghanistan for 173. Afghanistan’s opener, Jamshid Zadran, top-scored with a steady 43 off 75 deliveries, including four boundaries. He partnered with Sohil Khan (12) for a 49-run second-wicket stand.
Despite losing two quick wickets and being reduced to 32/2 within eight overs during their reply, Kulkarni took charge, playing a responsible innings of 70 runs off 105 balls (4x4s). He initially collaborated with captain Saharan (20; 49 balls) in a 44-run third-wicket partnership and later formed an unbroken 98-run fourth-wicket alliance with Musheer Khan (48; 53b, 3x4s), guiding the team to victory.
