Jimmy Rave wrestled for Ring of Honor, IMPACT, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Dragon Gate, and Combat Zone Wrestling before being forced to retire in November 2020.

Rave stated both of his legs had been amputated after acquiring MRSA less than two months ago.

The American, whose real name is James Guffey, had already lost his left arm, forcing him to retire from the sport, and then contracted Covid shortly after.

Jimmy Rave is the ring name of James Guffey, an American professional wrestler who was born on December 8, 1982. He is most well-known for his work with Ring of Honor (ROH) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNAW) (TNA).

He is survived by his ex-wife Felicia and their children with his net worth standing at $1 million.

Guffey made his debut as the masked Mr. XTC in October 1999, after being trained by Murder One. Jimmy Rave was his ring name later on. Rave wrestled for a variety of independent promotions, including Combat Zone Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, and NWA Wildside, where he won the NWA Wildside Junior Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship twice.

Along with that, he also toured Japan twice with the Dragon Gate promotion and competed in the Best of the Super Juniors for New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2008, and made several appearances with Total Nonstop MMA.

Jimmy Rave Cause Of Death And Arm Amputated 

Jimmy Rave, a former professional wrestler who spent much of the previous year in the hospital after undergoing three amputations, died on Sunday at the age of 39.

The reason of death for the famed Ring of Honor star was not revealed, but a friend stated he suffered from addiction and that his inner demons finally caught up with him. He was also struggling with a lengthy illness.

Rave’s position worsened when, in late October, he revealed that he had to have both legs amputated due to a recurring illness of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

The former athlete shared a startling photo of himself laying in a hospital bed with both legs and his left arm amputated after being diagnosed with MRSA, an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection.

Jimmy Rave Career 

He wrestled with AJ Styles in the Ring of Honor and performed on World Wrestling Entertainment’s Sunday Night Heat. He also toured Japan with Dragon Gate Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

According to his acquaintance, he also worked as a booker for Rampage Pro Wrestling for numerous years, where he led a “Jimmy Rave Approved” movement.

Rave revealed on Instagram in December that he was retiring from pro wrestling due to the amputation of his left arm.

His world had ‘crumbled down’ days before when doctors discovered a staph infection in his arm and told him he needed to have it amputated below the elbow.
