Notably, Dobbs attended Tennessee which has an impressive aerospace engineering program besides a strong SEC football program.
Joshua Dobbs a rocket scientist
While Dobbs is technically not a rocket scientist, he certainly has the certifications to become a fully licensed rocket scientist. Besides having an educational background in rocket science, he has also previously interned at NASA twice. During the 2020 offseason, he interned at NASA’s Kennedy Center in Florida as part of the NFL Players Association’s externship. He joined the same again in 2021.
Joshua Dobbs studied aerospace engineering at Tennessee and earned a 4.0 GPA while playing quarterback as well.
During his time there, Dobbs got to oversee the launch of the NASA/SpaceX rocket. He stated:
I really felt the nervousness watching the countdown, knowing what those astronauts have gone through to get to this moment. Being able to see the teamwork involved in preparation for this launch was incredible for me. It’s so much like a football team — you see how everyone doing their job fits together and makes something great happen. That’s what I really appreciated about the experience.”

Robert Joshua Dobbs, is an American professional football player who was born on 26 January 1995 in Alpharetta, Georgia, USA. Dobbs was born to parents – Stephanie Dobbs and Robert Dobbs and currently plays for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL) as a quarterback. Prior to becoming a professional football player, he attended the University of Tennessee, and played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers.

Joshua Dobbs college career
Dobbs graduated from the University of Tennessee after spending four years with the Minnesota Volunteers. He played as a quarterback for then-head coach Butch Jones. Aside from playing college football at Tennessee, Dobbs majored in aerospace engineering. Notably, Dobbs graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, which earned him a spot on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll. He also won the 2017 Torchbearer Award, the highest honor for an undergraduate student at Tennessee. The university presents this award to a student “for academic achievement and outstanding commitment to others as demonstrated by the student’s various activities and significant contributions to the university and the community.”
Joshua Dobbs NFL career
Joshua Dobbs started of hiss professional career in the NFL back in 2017. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers during the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After starting the offseason with the Titans, he got traded to the Cardinals before flipping out at the deadline to join the Vikings. He officially joined the Minnesota Vikings just last month on October 31. Dobbs quickly won the hearts of the fans after leading the Vikings to a stunning win over the Falcons in Week 9.
Despite not even knowing the names of all his teammates, the veteran star played out an 11-play, 75-yard drive in the final minutes of the game. The play helped secure a victory for the club. His adaptability has led critics to draw comparisons to former NFL QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Interestingly, both Fitzpatrick and Dobbs are intelligent with Fitzpatrick being a Harvard graduate with an economics degree.
