In reaction to Goel’s resignation, Pradip Kanakia, a seasoned professional in the field, has joined Byju’s as a senior advisor. Additionally, Nitin Golani, who is currently the President (Finance), has been given additional duties as CFO of India, overseeing the business’ financial operations.
While speaking to the media, Ajay Goel expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance he received during his short yet impactful stint at Byju’s. He said,
I thank the founders and colleagues at BYJU’S for helping me assemble the FY’22 audit in three months. I appreciate the support received during a short but impactful stint at BYJU’S.
Separately, Vedanta disclosed that Sonal Shrivastava, the company’s CFO at the time, had quit for personal reasons. This occurred at the same time that Vedanta just revealed a big structural update. Ajay Goel will return to the business as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) with effect from October 30, 2023, according to a statement from Vedanta.

Who is Ajay Goel?
Ajay Goel is a well-known Indian business executive. He has been in the news because, after resigning from Byju’s, he joined Vedanta as the new CFO.
According to his LinkedIn page, he started his academic journey by enrolling at St. Xavier College from 1994 to 1997, where he successfully completed a B.Com. degree. Between 1997 and 1999, he pursued additional study at the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and also honed his skills at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India from 1996 to 1999.
His career
Ajay Goel’s extensive financial knowledge is demonstrated by the fact that he is both a company secretary and a chartered accountant.
According to his LinkedIn page, Ajay worked for Coca-Cola as the lead financial manager. He has extensive knowledge of team building, capital reorganization, financing strategies, taxation, and several facets of the financial sector. He held the positions of executive vice president and chief financial officer at Diageo. He also worked as GE’s EVP.
In 2021, Ajay Goel joined the ed-tech start-up Vedanta as the group CFO. However, in April 2023, he switched to another ed-tech start-up named Byju’s. Now, he is again in Vedanta after a 6-month stint with Byju’s.
Ajay Goel was paid a total of Rs 2,970,000 as Vedanta’s acting chief financial officer, according to Wallmine during his last stint at the company.
