Earlier last month, PSL confirmed that the competition would take place between February 8 and March 24, 2024. The Multan Sultans were the runners-up at the 2023 edition, and have managed to reach the final of across the last three tournaments.
Catherine Dalton joins Multan Sultans as new fast-bowling coach
Former Irish international cricketer Catherine Dalton has become the new fast-bowling coach for Multan Sultans in the PSL. Following the news about the new signing, Dalton shared:
“Having worked in Pakistan with some of the Multan Sultan players on two previous visits, I am really thrilled to be officially joining up with the franchise at the PSL. It’s not lost on me the ground-breaking moment for a female fast-bowling coach to be working in a major men’s T20 franchise. I am very humbled by the opportunity and cannot wait to hopefully help make a difference on multiple levels.”
Meanwhile, Ali Tareen, who is the owner of Multan Sultans also shared how Catherine has been a part of their player-development programme for almost five years. Tareen shared how he has personally seen her improve first hand and shared his delight over seeing Dalton get her first opportunity with the Sultans. Her salary with the team isn’t known though.
Tareen had previously shared how he wanted more females to apply for coaching and management roles and provide equal opportunity. He shared how the team already have three male coaches, and are looking for three female coaches ahead of the start of the [next] PSL.

Catherine Clare Dalton is a former professional Irish cricketer and recently appointed fast-bowling coach for the Multan Sultans. She was born on 24 October 1992 in Leyton, London, United Kingdom. She played for Essex in English domestic cricket primarily as a right-handed batter. Catherine gained her Irish citizenship back in 2015, and eventually joined the Irish national team’s squad for the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier in Thailand. During her childhood, she attended the Trinity Catholic High School.

Catherine Dalton career
Despite being born in England, Dalton eventually acquired an Irish citizenship in 2015. She then represented England across four ODIs and four T20Is and previously visited Pakistan twice. During her time in Pakistan, she worked with several fast bowlers, like Mohammad Ilyas, Sameen Gul and Arshad Iqbal alongside a number of Under-19 players.
Dalton is an ECB-certified Level 3 Advanced Coach, and she has previously held coaching positions in the national fast-bowling academy. She held the positions in the UK as well as in the Ultimate Pace Foundation in India where she worked with Deepak Chahar and others. Aside from that, Dalton also worked as an assistant head coach at the UK-based National Fast-Bowling Academy.
