The British scientist, Kristy Smitten, lost her battle with cancer at 29. She was diagnosed with cardiac angiosarcoma, which is an extremely rare heart cancer. She fought through relentless discomfort to carry on with her vital work before passing away in the hospital.

Kirsty received a diagnosis in January and passed away on Wednesday, October 4 as a result of the condition. She was unmarried and single and had a net worth of $500,000-1 million.

In order to treat multi-drug-resistant bacteria, Kirsty Smitten developed a new class of antibiotics while pursuing her microbiology PhD at the University of Sheffield.
