Just recently, Kerala Blasters FC lost 2-1 away to Mumbai City FC on Sunday, during their opening ISL 2023-24 fixture.

Despite putting on an entertaining game, it ended with a lot of flared up emotions and ugly clashes between players.
Kerala Blasters FC vs Mumbai City FC game ends in chaos
Fans and viewers witnessed a chaotic night during the recent ISL 2023-24 opening fixture between Mumbai City and Kerala Blasters. The players broke out into a scuffle during the end of the match with the highlight being KBFC defender Prabir Das, grabbed in a chokehold by Rostyn Griffiths.
The KBFC defender left the field in tears following the game and has now come out to reveal about what went down. The 29-year-old posted a statement on Twitter (X) about the incident including the unwarranted abuse hurled at his mother. He started out by stating:
In the game of football, victories and defeats are inevitable, but the essence of true sportsmanship must prevail. Disagreements on the field are commonplace, but there exists a boundary that should never be crossed.”
Prabir Das speaks out against abuses hurled at his mother
Prabir Das revealed that during the incident on Sunday, his mother became the target of unwarranted abuse. He shared how he comes from a background marked by resilience and countless sacrifices that his mother undertook, adding that all of this has allowed him to pursue his dream of playing on the national stage.
Das further went on to share how all of these sacrifices, that his loved ones made deserve the highest respect. He clarified that his tears following the end of the game were not of defeat but of anguish, after seeing his mother dishonoured. Prabir Das further added:
I am not one to easily succumb to adversity; we will learn, adapt, and press on. Yet, I want to emphasize that my tears were shed out of love for my mother, not weakness. To my opponent, I implore you to recognize the values that bind us – respect for our elders and reverence for our kin.
Prabir Das stated that using such derogatory remarks may have earned them points, but cost them his respect. The Indian full-back also added how not everyone understands the sacrifices that families make to nurture dreams of their members. Das shared that people born with privilege often fail to understand the struggles that other people go through. He concluded, urging everyone to realize that behind every successful dream stands a family that gave up its own dreams.
