He was born in 1952, to Late Peer Mohammed and Sayeed Unnisa Begum in Azampura. Mr. Ali earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Osmania University and his Master of Arts degree from Jamia Millia Islamia.
Following his education, he entered the dairy farming business and achieved significant success in this field.

Political Career
Mohammed Mahmood Ali embarked on his political career in the early 1990s, starting as a corporator in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, a role he was re-elected to in 2000 and 2005.
In 2009, he secured a position in the Telangana Legislative Assembly from the Charminar constituency and was re-elected in 2014.
Notably, he also served as the President of the Minority Cell. In 2014, Mohammed Mahmood Ali made history by becoming the first-ever Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, a position he was appointed to by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao after the party’s triumph in the state’s Legislative Assembly election.
In 2018, Ali was appointed as both the Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, also taking charge of portfolios related to minorities welfare, urban development, and municipal administration.
He enjoys significant popularity in Telangana, particularly within the Muslim community, owing to his unassuming demeanor and unwavering dedication to social service.
In 2019, he was once again elected as a Member of the Legislative Council of Telangana. Since 2019, he has held the key portfolio of Minister of Home, Prisons, and Fire Services in Telangana. It’s worth noting that he is the second individual to serve as Home Minister in Telangana, succeeding Nayini Narsimha Reddy, the former Home Minister.
He is a prominent member of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and represents the Azampura constituency in the Telangana Legislative Council.
