KM Chanda, a poor farmer’s daughter, is a dedicated and determined athlete from Mirzapur, showcasing her prowess. Chanda’s mother Heeramani Devi is the family’s sole breadwinner who tends to their small piece of farmland while also working on neighbouring lands.
Her career
At the Junior National Athletics Championship in 2019, KM Chanda won the gold medal in the 3000m event and established a national record in the 1,500m race. She also won a gold medal in the 800 meters at the National School Athletics Competition and a second gold at the Federation Cup in 2021.
