Who is Maneesha Keer?
India’s Manisha Keer competes in shooting sports. She earned a silver medal in the team trap shooting competition at the ISSF World Cup shotgun in Cairo alongside Kirti Gupta and Rajeshwari Kumari. She won a silver medal in the women’s trap team category at the Asian Games of 2022.
A look at Maneesha Keer’s career so far
The 24-year-old has won numerous medals at some of the most esteemed international events, including a silver at the world championships, Asian championships, and ISSF Junior World Cup.
At the 2015 ISSF Junior competition in Lonato, Italy, Manisha made her international debut. She won a silver medal in the Junior Shotgun competition at the ISSF Shooting World Championship in South Korea in 2018, which marked a crucial turning point in her career. She tied the junior women’s trap record with a performance of 41 points.
At the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Cairo, Manisha finished seventh in the women’s trap competition, which was a record-breaking performance for her. Her results were consistently remarkable; she received 23 out of 25 in each of the four rounds before.
At the 2018 ISSF (International Shooting SportFederation) Shooting World Championship in South Korea, Manisha, a then 19-year-old from Bhopal, became the first Indian woman to earn a silver medal in the junior shotgun event.
Manisha equaled the junior world record at the competition, but in a shoot-off with Italian shooter Erica Sessa, who won the gold medal, she was forced to settle for second place.
Her life changed when she went to the state shooting academy in Bhopal with her older sister. This visit coincided with the shotgun trials at the academy, which helped Manisha get ready for her entrance to shooting sports, a report by Sportskeeda suggests.
