As the story progressed, it became clear that the protagonist was investigating a coven of sorcerers for their role in the death of his father.

Kagurabachi chapter 2 spoilers and raw scans have appeared online in advance of the chapter’s scheduled publication date. Spoilers suggest that the first scene of this chapter has Shiba untying the Anti-Korogumi member. Who had been taken by the Yakuza. Shiba reveals his identity when asked.
Chihiro, on the other hand, threatens the Yakuza boss with his Katana and says he doesn’t care if the sorcerers are monsters; he’ll kill them nonetheless. The Yakuza boss then hears Shiba advising him to take Chihiro seriously and walks away. The protagonist inquires as to the Korogumi leader’s knowledge of the Hishaku sorcerer group.
Something began to happen to his body before he could respond. The leader of the Korogumi group transforms into a terrifying tree-like creature, much to Chihiro and Shiba’s consternation. Chihiro yells at Shiba, instructing him to follow the rescued individual on the run.
Back To Tokyo in Kagurabachi Chapter 2 Raw Scans
Spoilers for the second chapter of Kagurabachi suggest that Shiba possesses sorcerer skills as well, since he was transported outside with the rescued individual. Shiba saw his fear and questioned if he really hadn’t seen much sorcery. He also learned that most wizards lived in urban areas. Therefore, it is quite unlikely that the natives knew anything much about them.
In the second chapter of Kagurabachi, Shiba goes in search of Chihiro and discovers him among several Yakuza members who have been transformed into trees. The protagonist discloses that built-in magic within them activated the minute they tried to speak about the Hishaku group, transforming them into tree-like monsters.
Chapter 2 spoilers for Kagurabachi hinted that the sorcerer from the first chapter was responsible for placing the curse on the Yakuza members. The protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira, expresses interest in accompanying Shiba to Tokyo after hearing him discuss the idea with Chihiro.
