She guided FC Barcelona to their first UEFA Champions League title and was awarded the best player of the year award by UEFA. Putellas has now become the third player to lift the award after Ada Hegerberg and Megan Rapinoe. Meanwhile, her teammate Jennie Hermoso finished second in the overall ranking and missed out nearly on the award.
