Esmeralda had proven herself to be a threat to Ludger, and he was on the hunt for her, but he kept missing her due to her quick reactions and ability to flee.
Ludger discovered that Esmeralda had animosity toward the Phebius Ducal Family and had meticulously murdered one after the other member of the Phebius Family, which was exiled from Durumang Kingdom.
Since the Phebius Family had gone into exile, the news concerning them was not widely circulated throughout the Durumang Kingdom. Nonetheless, the people around them began to speculate that the Family was cursed because one of its members perished after spontaneously combusting in public.
Such incidents are rarely covered up and had a significant influence in the Family fleeing. Esmeralda’s vengeance would not be complete until she had assassinated the last living member of the Phebius Family. Ludger wanted to use Krollos as bait once more to entice Esmeralda and finally have her in his grip.
In the previous chapter of Academy’s Undercover Professor, Ludger learns about the Phebius Ducal Family, who are related to Esmeralda. Ludger had no idea such a family existed in the Durumang Kingdom, but that was understandable given the Family’s long exile.
The Family’s demise began when the members mysteriously vanished one after the other. However, things got out of hand when the Family’s leader spontaneously combusted and perished after being burnt alive.
An accident occurred at a party that even Ludger had attended, but Krollos escaped unharmed. Ludger was unable to apprehend Esmeralda, but with Krollos still alive, another opportunity would surely present itself, and she would surely pursue him shortly.
