A few days after the Barrack Gate incident, word spread that an F-Ranker had vanquished a Goblin and saved the workers from certain doom in the previous chapter of Steel-Eating Player. Creatures swarmed the Barracks through an unlocked gate and slaughtered the defenseless inhabitants.
These tales centered on Lee Hyunwook, the F-ranking soldier who had accomplished this remarkable feat. Sergeant Oh Sangook, clearly agitated by the rumors, was witnessed verbally insulting another service member when he questioned him about the suspect.
