The Durand Cup is interesting as it gives 3 trophies to its winners and they are namely, Durand Cup, Shimla Trophy and President’s Cup.

The competition, which is presently managed by the Indian Army, is open to all teams, including both military and civilian teams. With 16 titles each since 1950, Mohun Bagan and East Bengal have had the greatest success in the Durand Cup. The Mohammedan SC (5 championships), JCT (4 titles), and Border Security Force (3 titles) are listed after them. Bengaluru FC won the Durand Cup in its last competition, which took place in 2022.

The 2023 Durand Cup is slated to take place from August 3 to September 3 of that year. The fact that 24 clubs from the Indian Super League, I-League, and the Armed Forces are participating in this year’s event makes it special.

The teams have been divided into six groups, each of which has four teams, an increase from the 20 teams that participated in the competition last year. For the matches, three of these groups will be in Kolkata, two in Guwahati, and one in Kokrajhar, Assam. On September 3, the Durand Cup football championship game will take place in Kolkata’s Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium).
