Odds of the next Premier League manager to be sacked

Some managers are under immediate pressure as the Premier League season gets underway as they try to build some crucial early momentum to keep their jobs. According to the most recent odds, Julen Lopetegui, Marco Silva, and David Moyes are considered the most likely to quit their jobs before the new season begins.

Despite turning down a move to Saudi Arabia, Silva is reportedly under the pressure from Lopetegui due to a shortage of transfer cash at Wolves. Meanwhile, Moyes is also having trouble spending the money made available by Declan Rice’s sale to Arsenal, and there appears to be tension at London Stadium.

First manager sacked in each Premier League season

The first manager fired in the history of the Premier League was Ian Porterfield of Chelsea, who managed for 29 games until being let go in the middle of February 1993.

After just two matches of the 1998–1999 season, Kenny Dalglish was fired as Newcastle United’s manager, becoming the Premier League’s quickest manager to ever be fired. After just four games, Peter Reid, Bobby Robson, Frank de Boer, Javi Gracia, and Scott Parker were all fired.

Tottenham is the team that features the most times on this list since they were the first to fire their manager after four seasons. Newcastle, Chelsea, and Sunderland all make three appearances.

The first Premier League manager gets fired after 10.8 games on average, so Parker’s dismissal in 2022/23 happened incredibly early.
