Steven Reed, the mayor of Montgomery, said that the situation was under control when he talked about what happened. He said that the Montgomery Police Department did a good job by quickly arresting “reckless people” who had attacked a man who was doing his job. Reed said, “Warrants are being signed, and justice will be served.” He also said that he thought the white guys were the ones who attacked the dock worker first.
