However, this year is different as India has won a total of 17 medals as of now. The sporting extravaganza, which began on July 28 and will last until August 8, gives Indian athletes a great opportunity to display their skills in 11 different sports disciplines, including archery, athletics, badminton, fencing, judo, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and volleyball.
It’s important to note that the Wushu team had to withdraw after initially being scheduled to compete. Despite this, together with numerous others, Amlan Borgohain, Priyanka Goswami, and Srihari Nataraj strengthen India’s participation in the international event, adding a sense of enthusiasm and pride to the country.
Tanisha Singh, an 18-year-old badminton prodigy who is poised to make an impression on the world stage, stands out as the contingent’s youngest player.
Even in shooting too, with Manu Bhaker and Elavenil Valarivan joyously winning gold in the women’s 10m air pistol and air rifle categories, respectively, Indian shooters have made waves in the current Games.
