In the Madison race, he won gold medals in 2005 and 2008. In 2016, he also earned his third UCI Track Cycling World Championships and a silver medal at the Summer Olympics.

Everything was going swimmingly for him until August of this year, when he was diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr virus. Not only had he fallen into a profound depression, but his marriage was also in risk.

To top it all off, he had a falling out with his ex-teammate Doug Ryder. He won four stages of the Tour de France in 2021, his long-awaited return. He has now won 34 stage races in his career.

Mark Cavendish’s troubles will be detailed in Mark Cavendish: Never Enough. He says in the trailer that, “You don’t go from being the best in the world to not being even capable. How has it happened? It turned into stress at home. I was a nightmare to live with.”

Meanwhile, his wife added, “argued about nothing. He was so lost in everything that was going on. I didn’t know this version of him, but I was sleeping in the same bed…I was scared that I would go past my limit and not be able to come back again.”

Cavendish even highlighted his troubles with his ex-team supervisor Doug Ryder, claiming that Dough referred to Dimension Data as a sinking ship. Ryder even left the cyclist out of the 2019 Grand Tour.

For unversed, the Mark Cavendish: Never Enough series will be available to stream online on the streaming giant Netflix after it is released on Wednesday, August  2, 2023.
